About Us

Department of Social Work

Housed in the College of Health, Human Services and Nursing, the Department of Social Work was founded in 2006 with an intentional focus on bringing attention to and addressing structural inequities through the lens of Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality.  We offer two enrollment options for the Master of Social Work program; a full-time two-year option and a three-year, part-time option. In the final year of study, students gain a deeper level of knowledge, values, and skills to engage, assess, intervene, and evaluate in one of three specialization areas: Children, Youth and Families; Community Mental Health and Community Capacity Building. Please peruse our website to learn more about our curriculum, the application process, and our wonderful faculty and staff.
