The Toro Learning and Testing Center offers a variety of academic support to all currently enrolled and matriculated CSU Dominguez Hills students. The Learning Center strives to create an open atmosphere of learning, promote engaged academic scholarship, and to provide students with opportunities to be fully integrated into the rich culture of the university. While the Testing Center supports and enhances student success by providing secure and comfortable atmosphere for testing. AAC&U (2007) describes lifelong learning as "all purposeful learning activity, undertaken on an ongoing basis with the aim of improving knowledge skills and competence." The Toro Learning and Testing Center’s tutor training program is certified by the College of Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) and adheres to the professional standards and guidelines set forth by the National College Testing Association (NCTA).

New Resources From Library

• Scopus has replaced Web of Science! Scopus features a similar scope of indexed citations to what you may be used to from Web of Science with some additional tools for searching citations by affiliation as well as more comprehensive author profiles. 
  
  
• Any publishers have temporarily granted free access to additional online resources including journal articles, books, videos, and textbooks. Library has collected all of these resources in one place for you: http://libguides.5bg12w.com/expanded-access.
  
  
• Some of library databases are also expanding access temporarily to additional collections for free. Those resources are available in OneSearch and any articles or books available as a result will display the message of “In response to COVID-19, there is complimentary access until [a date here].”

Applicants must:

• Be high school seniors, freshmen or sophomore undergraduate students
• Be U.S. citizens
• Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States for the upcoming academic year
• Be majoring or planning to major in one of many specified eligible STEM programs
• Demonstrate financial need

Research Experience for Undergraduates 

NSF REU Site: Applied Computing Research in Unmanned Aerial Systems

OVERVIEW

The program offers a unique opportunity to undergraduate students nation-wide, particularly to the students of under-represented groups, to participate in applied computing research in unmanned aerial systems and their applications. The objective of the program is to provide participants unique research experiences in a stimulating environment that will involve developing secure, autonomous UAS technology and using them for knowledge discovery. The focus of this REU is to seek solutions to facilitate collection, storage, and analysis of data on the coastal environment of the Gulf of Mexico, particularly in South Texas through developing algorithms and software systems. Approximately ten students will be supported for a 10-week program from June 1, 2020 to August 7, 2020.

BENEFITS

•  A student will gain experience in applied computing research in unmanned aerial systems and their applications.
•  Students will receive mentoring from experienced research faculty
•  Students will be informed about graduate schools and financial opportunities such fellowships, scholarships, and assistantships to support graduate education
•  Students will receive $6,000 as stipend ($600 a week)
•  A travel allowance to come to and return from the site
•  Furnished housing will be provided
•  Expenses for meals (a fixed amount per day) will be provided for all participating students

ELLIGIBILITY

•  Must be a US citizen or permanent resident of the United States (Students from underrepresented minority groups such as Hispanics, African Americans, Native Americans, and women are strongly encouraged to apply)
•  Must be a full-time undergraduate student (Preference category: Computer science students in junior or senior year), and not graduating before December 2020.
•  Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
